Susan & Matt

Susan & Matt met at their alma mater a few years ago so of course when we started the engagement shoot at the Orange Circle, we naturally had to migrate to Chapman U! They are so great to work with. We were so fortunate to be able to roam the campus. We were able to get awesome shots! Can't wait for the wedding!

Christine & Wayne

Christine & Wayne had great times at Downtown Fullerton where they met a few years ago. It was the perfect place for their engagement shoot. The cold weather actually helped us out because they cuddled a lot and it made for priceless photos. Counting down the days to your wedding! Can't wait!

Jennifer & Todd

Jennifer & Todd were such great sports on the COLD and windy day. They chose a great place for their engagement shoot because there was a touch of the ocean, grass, playground, lighthouse, and more! Cantina Light Pictures loved looking through their pictures and we're sure our loyal readers will, too. Can't wait for the wedding!

Kristina & Chris

Kristina & Chris had a great time trying to avoid the waves on the rocks at their engagement shoot. One of the waves caught Chris but they laughed it off as it only left a small mark on him. We lost the sun quickly but were able to get amazing sunset shots. They're a wonderful couple and I look forward to their wedding next year. Great job, Kristina and Chris!

A Little Break From Weddings

Sometimes when you get so focused on the big things you forget the little things. In a break from all that goes on here at Cantina Light Pictures, Sam got a chance to shoot some special little people. His daughter, Skylar, played on the Purple Panthers this year and had a blast. This was her first season playing soccer and supposedly can't wait for next season to start.

We figured we'd break up the pattern a bit from posting wedding and engagement slide shows and put something up from the Purple Panthers' last game a week ago. They were coming together as a team and it was fun to watch!

Special thanks to all the parents with shout outs going to Jerrold, Jodi and Christina. The pictures have illustrated how much fun, excitement, and intensity you have instilled into the kids. It was a great time!!!

Lani & Nick

Lani & Nick! They married on a beautiful yacht recently and Cantina Light Pictures couldn't be any happier being a part of their wedding day--even the sea otters joined in on the festivities by paying us a visit! ;) Their families were great and they definitely love to dance! Lani herself is a dancer herself; losing her shoe during the father-daughter dance didn't stop her from dancing! Congratulations, Lani & Nick! You two deserve each other!

Desiree & Kent

Both Desiree & Kent are lucky to have each other. They are truly exceptional people with families that love and support this newly married couple. I can see them falling in love with each other all over again as they exchanged vows. A most wonderful couple they are. Congratulations, Desiree & Kent!

Danielle & Daniel

Danielle & Daniel's shoot was marvelous! They made such great models for us and their pictures show nothing but happiness and their endless love! It started out to be a chilly day but that didn't stop us from a great engagement session. Enjoy your pictures, Danielle & Daniel!

Arlene & Miko

Arlene & Miko had a great engagement shoot! They chose the Japanese Gardens at the Long Beach State campus and it couldn't have been a better day for pictures! There weren't a lot of people, the sun was pleasant enough for us, and the koi fish were great company, too! We can't wait for their wedding! Enjoy your slide show, Arlene & Miko!

Monica & Fernando

Monica & Fernando celebrated their union on such a beautiful day. Together with their family and friends, they started their life as a happy married couple. They have been together for years and their love was definitely showing as great as it did when they first fell in love! Didn't want to wear the models out though:) Julie and Sung took some great pictures. Full of style and fun just what we like here at Cantina Light Pictures. Hope you guys enjoy the slide show!

Kim & Chris

Cantina Light Pictures finds it such an honor to be the photographers for a wedding like Chris and Kim's. Beautiful bride Kim kept relaxed before she walked down the aisle by singing with her girls in the bridal room, Chris avoided the pre-ceremony jitters by hanging out with his boys, and their families and friends got entertained by a memorable ceremony and a fun-filled reception. The day was a hot one but we all made it through to make their wedding unforgettable. Congratulations, Kim & Chris!

What Is Happening With The Stock Market!!!

As many of you know, in my previous life I walked the floors of the NYSE and had 10 second hot dog lunches on the corner of Broad St. and Wall St. Although my singular focus is the growth of Cantina Light Pictures, I keep a prudent eye on what's happening with all the events going on in our markets. Friends have called me in recent days asking for my opinion on what's going on, which I respond, "what's your broker saying?" Apparently, not enough to comfort the issues these individuals have.

Here's the skinny from where I sit. Quick touch up on what happened yesterday and a synapses on what I think may go on today.

The markets yesterday fooled many at the beginning. As expected, we experienced heavy trading (frenzied is the more likely term) at the open. Trading was so fierce that some trades weren't reported. This led the ticker tape to read that we were down 98 points. When all the trades had caught up and recorded into the systems it showed we were actually down over 300 points. At the beginning some were looking at being down 98 points okay considering the bad news from the weekend. When all the trades caught up and they saw what we were really down over 300 we experienced what happens many times, a rally off the lows. The rally was short lived, however, as the largeness of the bad news lingered. We attempted another rally as rumors circulated that there were "talks" with Warren Buffet.

The markets tone had turned negative and selling increased as we pierced the morning lows with several attempts at a rally that didn't amount to anything.

We closed below the July 15th intra day lows and all the indices close at their bottoms for that same date.

Net/net it was a very nasty day yesterday. There was no capitulation as was the fear and what some might hoped.

What to expect today.

The Fed meets today and what was considered to be a non event is now one that renders much attention. What will the Fed do? Will they cut rates to calm things down? If so, could that arouse concerns of a zero interest rate policy used by Japan in years past? Would it show that the Fed is in panic mode? In any case the last few Fed cuts had almost no positive effect. We'll wait and see.

AIG is of course a significant topic being discussed by analyst and Main St alike. First, what are analyst saying? Essentially what they are saying is that a private sector bailout deal is dead. In other words no help from large institutions from the likes of BofA, Wells, Citibank, and/or other financial houses. It makes all the sense in the world if you think about it. Why would any of these institutions attempt to bail AIG out when they can buy their assets up in bankruptcy court. Another thing, these institutions are direct benficiaries of an AIG bankruptcy as all the annuity and such assets will migrate towards them (happening as we speak). Lastly, do they have enough in reserves to put together $70 billion? Sure they do! But is it prudent?

As a result, word has it that a bridge loan is being discussed with the FED for AIG. Only issue is that the Fed has publicly said that they will not step in with regards to situations like this again.

Interestingly, they didn't help out Lehman Bros. the 4th largest investment bank in the world.

Something that has to be considered is the possibility of assets moving away from Wall St. Let's face it, people are concerned and want to know what to do. They're not hearing from their brokers (more than likely due to the fact their broker doesn't know what to do either) and the constant bad news coming out by watching TV about our financial markets is adding fuel to the fire. Basically, this might be the conversation in homes. "Hey Honey I've been thinking, most of Wall Streets brilliant minds along with the US government have tried to solve this big problem at least 5 times now. Each time they've failed. Maybe we should reconsider where our assets should be placed."

In Summary

All we can hope for is massive capitulation. People throwing in the towel with a mid day, heavy volume reversal to take us back into blue skies....for the time being. It's highly unlikely. It's going to be a rough ride where peoples souls will be tried and tested. Stay tuned....Sam

Veronica & Shaun

Veronica & Shaun were a barrel of fun. They chose a great place to have their engagement shoot because the old-style buildings and structures there made for awesome pictures. We lost some sunlight towards the end but we made due because we were all just having a great time. They are definitely two people that we really look forward to shooting their wedding. It'll be great. Can't wait!

Liza & Mike

Oh Liza & Mike! They were so much fun to work with! And Spencer, too! They are such wonderful people inside and out and I couldn't be any honored that Cantina Light Pictures got to share their special day with them! Spencer walking down the aisle with toys, Liza with her beautiful dress, Mike with his terrific personality, and the fun-filled night of the reception with all their closest friends and family really made the night incredible. I wish you two the best of the best of luck! Congratulations!

They are each others' True Companion!

Eli & Ray

Eli & Ray have so many family and friends and it made for a huge wedding day! From the beautiful church to the spacious reception area, these newlyweds gave their guests something to talk about. Ray got his firemen buddies to bring the fire truck by the reception hall so that made for fun pictures with that. They are truly blessed with their marriage and their two wonderful children. Congratulations!

Vanessa & Ric

From the moment we first met them in our studio, to their engagement shoot, and now to their wedding, we've had only wonderful times with Vanessa & Ric. They surprised their guests with a fun slow-dance-to-hip-hop-dance during their first dance and it couldn't have been more enjoyable. They both looked spectacular and it shows with every single shot we took of them. Your album is going to look great! All the best!

Such a amazing couple these two are! They both seemed a little nervous at first but Emily's limo ride with her mom and bridesmaids to the ceremony site, Thanks' goofing around with his groomsmen, and their wonderful friends and family helped them have one of the best days of their life. They did such a terrific job. Congratulations, Thanks & Emily. We wish you the best of the best!

Monica & Fernando

Monica & Fernando have been together for 8+ years and their love still shows as if they were still in the "honeymoon" phase. We had a great time at the Disneyland Hotel where he proposed to her in front of the gazebo. It was such a humid day but they did really well! Their pictures are fun and they really captured their undying love for each other. Can't wait for your wedding!

Patrick & Corinne! We know you've waited long enough for your album, so here it is! We had to make sure we got every last detail in your album and it turned out to be incredible! Jenna & Cody

Jenna and Cody brought along their almost-9-month-old daughter Hayden at their engagement shoot. Hayden is such an angel and all their pictures were beyond adorable. Jenna and Cody even chose to get their bodies wet in the water as opposed to just their legs! It was a fun night for all of us! Their pictures speak for themselves! They're amazing!

Liz & Travis

Their wedding started off like any other wedding: the bride was with her ladies at the salon, the groom got ready with his guys, and the wedding went off without a hitch. The ENDING to the night was what was different. Liz & Travis rented a party bus and went bar hopping with all their friends and family! What an awesome way to end the night. Liz & Danny

Purple and yellow is the theme for this couple's wedding, and I have to say that I love it! Liz and Danny are big Lakers fans so they chose to wear their wedding colors in their engagement shoot. We were able to capture the love, connection, and closeness that any wonderful couple in love share. They chose to have their shoot over at a place that they often go to so it really helped them be themselves and have the best time. Their pictures are as beautiful as they are. We're counting down the days until we shoot their wedding!

Liza & Mike

We all had a lot of fun at Liza and Mike's engagement shoot. The day started out like any other, taking their couple shots and taking a few shots with Spencer (the cutest 3-year-old out there). By the end of it all, Liza and Mike were DRENCHED from a splash they were hit with! I warned them they were going to get soaked, and they said it was okay! If it's alright with them, it's alright with me! They ended up with some awesome shots. They chose a sweet song for their slide show. Can't wait for your wedding, Liza and Mike!

Suzanne & Don

Suzanne and Don chose a great place to take Cantina Light Pictures for their engagement shoot. We love that our clients get to choose where their engagement session will be at because being in a couple's "place" as their "comfort zone" really helps to capture true emotions shared between people. The love this couple shows for each other is tremendous and their beautiful pictures show that. We can't wait for your wedding, Suzanne and Don!

Liz & Travis

Cantina Light Pictures had another grand time while shooting Liz and Travis's engagement shoot. The happy couple spend lots of time at that particular park we were at so it was only fitting to be there. They brought their dog so that made for a few nice shots as well. Their wedding is coming up ultra quick so we can't wait to be a part of their special day. Enjoy, Liz and Travis!

Call it fate that brought them together, call it a small world, call it whatever you want--this couple met, fell in love, and now they're newlyweds! Brittany seemed like a quiet person when we first met her at our studio. Come wedding day, she was so happy, lively, and full of so much energy! Betty & Bill

Their engagement shoot turned out to be another great work of art by Cantina Light Pictures! We were at the 3rd St Promenade and pier out on Santa Monica and the atmosphere made for beautiful shots. We got stopped by a security guard asking us what we were doing but that didn't stop the fun! But don't let them know that. haha. Their wedding is coming up fast; we can't wait to capture all the unforgettable memories!

Ana & Giovanni

It has been a BLAST working with Ana and Giovanny. They always have such great smiles on their faces whenever we're around! The afternoon ceremony started a little late but it turned out to be beautiful. It's always great to be a part of a ceremony presented in a foreign language; it gives us a taste of a culture that we are not normally accustomed to. The reception was also a lot of fun. The kids loved the chocolate fountain! I can't complain! The night ended with a bunch of dancing and love all around; the perfect way to start Ana and Giovanny's lives together!

He's Getting Ready To Tee It Up!

Let me introduce Chance to you. He's my (Sam's) little almost 3 year old. I took him out to a driving range a month ago with his sisters thinking that he would be better behaved and not be the "terrible 2" that he sometimes is as he watched people including his sisters hit golf balls. Well here he is the other day hitting all by himself. I can't stop smiling everytime I look at these pictures.

1st image - notice as he shifts his weight to his right side as he takes the club back. He's also keeping his hands in front of his chest, not letting the club get behind him...like I do sometimes.

2nd image - On his downswing he has the club "loaded" ready to release with some power. Notice his weight transfer and how his hands are staying in front of his chest still...(he's stays connected...something I learned from Randy Chang). His body is returning to it's starting point.

3rd image - Chance keeps his head still at impact and behind the ball as well. You can fully tell that he is transferring his weight to his left side at this point by looking at his right foot as he gets onto its instep. He hasn't broken the imaginary line or wall on his left side (yellow line) that we're all told not to breach. Hands are still in front of him. He's just a bit too steep at impact but I'll take it considering he's been at it for just a month.

It's just fun to watch. He's not as long as his sisters yet but we'll give it a few months.

Click on his picture for a larger view.

Tamara & Tyler's Wedding

I'm (I being Sam) still getting out there and shooting quite a bit while running Cantina Light Pictures and all the events we have in store for the future. Running the show and shooting can be quite a juggling act from time to time and can get a bit overwhelming. However overwhelming it could ever be to juggle the two I wouldn't have missed the chance to shoot Tamara and Tyler's wedding for the world. I have been friends with Tamara for quite a while and watching her walk down the aisle was something beautiful to see. They had a wonderful time as you'll be able to see in just a bit. Thanks guys for letting us share in your special day! I had wonderful help as always with trusty Samantha and Tania shooting right along with me. Together we captured some great memories.

Last Clue!

Here is the very last clue to the game that's been on for the past couple weeks. We have had some pretty funny and interesting answers that came through in pictures. We'll show some of those after we reveal the winner. But of course we don't have a winner just yet. Here's the last clue:

People think I'm made out of cheese!

Remember to take a picture of the answer and email it to us!

Thank you all for participating!!!

Corinne and Patrick

Corinne and Patrick got engaged right before New Years in Phoenix. Patrick marked the memorable event by proposing while on their gondola ride and Corinne was surprised to say the least. (I was just informed that I was incorrect, Patrick proposed later on in the evening inside a gazebo, sorry guys!) It must have been the night for proposing considering that Corinne and Patrick had just witnessed a couple get engaged right before them that evening and left Corinne wondering, "what if?" Well her "what if" turned in to reality and Cantina Light Pictures is happy to be helping them in celebrating their special day coming soon. See their engagement slide show!

Cantina Light Pictures was happy to photograph and create some memorable images for Michelle and Rudy. They're a wonderful couple who love the outdoors...as a matter of fact they should be in Utah as we're writing. Zion to be precise! Hope they take great pictures there. Zion has produced some great picture taking opportunities! Rudy is Michelle's "Hot Motorcycle Guy" and we wish them the very best!!! See you soon!

New Clue!

Clue #3: Something hot sometimes covers me!

We've gotten quite a few emails of picture answers but none of them are close to the actual answer. There's time left and we're going to let this game run its course until someone sends in the correct picture answer! Have a great weekend!!!

Cantina's Next Top Photographer!!!

Surprisingly, we have been asked by quite a few individuals over the past couple of weeks about our next game. They've been saying that the game is soooo easy to do and fun to play. In fact, it is easy and it is fun to play. All you need is a camera phone and some creativity and you're playing! Our last game involved players to take a picture with their camera phone that had something pink in the background and email it to us at hello@cantinalight.com. This time we have something a bit different. We'll give you a set of clues and you need to figure out what the answer may be and take a picture of your answer. For instance, 1) I'm an arch. 2) Shaped in the form of an M. 3) And I'm not good for you. The answer is McDonalds! Take a picture of any cell phone with your camera phone and send it to us! That's it!

There will be a new set of clues every day so keep coming back. That's of course if you need more clues to come up with the answer. Email your answer to hello@cantinalight.com and our design team will review the images submitted and determine who wins the contest for the week. So let's get this thing started!

Clues:

1) I'm a jewel on black velvet.
2) And a pearl in the sea.

Have fun with this and remember to be creative...our design team looks for that! Note: you can send in as many images as you want.

Tamara and Tyler

Hey hey hey! Now that was a fun shoot! Tamara and Tyler are getting married at Alta Vista CC very soon and time is now ticking away towards the big day! Tamara , you looked so nice! Who would have known that I would end up shooting your wedding!!! For all of you who don't know, Tamara was my assistant at UBS when I was running money as a stock broker back in the day. Crazy! Tyler started out a little on the shy side (as most people do) but busted out big time and had so much fun during the shoot. We can't wait to shoot your wedding day guys! With the wardrobe choice and theme we know we'll come out with some great images. See you guys soon!
